Introduction of Tool Holder for Turning-milling Composite Machining Center
July 25, 2019
1. What is a Turning-Milling compound machining center?
Turning-milling compound machining center is a multi-functional machine tool which uses the combined motion of workpiece rotation and tool rotation to realize the cutting of workpiece. It can complete turning, milling, drilling, boring and five-axis linkage processing in one clamp, so it is also called "multi-task machine tool". Because it can complete most or even all of the processing projects in one clamp, the processing accuracy and production efficiency are greatly improved. Although the price is expensive, it is also accepted by more and more users.
How to choose the tool handle when choosing such an expensive machine tool? It must be a matter of great concern to many users. Knife shank for general machining center is very familiar to everyone, but for turning and milling composite processing tool shank there are many people do not know very well.
2. Classification of Tool Handles for Turning and Milling
According to the processing method, it can be divided into two categories:
One is the milling tool holder (tool holder rotation, such as milling, drilling, boring, etc.)
This kind of tool holder is basically the same as that used in common machining centers, such as spring tool holder, powerful tool holder, hydraulic tool holder, face milling tool holder and boring cutter, and so on. There are many kinds of tool holder, which we must be familiar with. This kind of tool holder will not be repeated here. We mainly introduce the following kind of tool holder.
Second, turning tool holder (only workpiece rotates, tool holder does not rotate)
According to machine tool spindle taper shank specifications, there are three main types: BBT (BIG-PLUS), CAPTO and HSK-T.
1. BBT is a two-sided positioning connection system developed on the basis of the original 7:24 taper BT tool holder.
2. CAPTO is a two-sided positioning connection system with 1:20 taper triangular pyramid structure.
(These two are very mature and widely used tool shank and spindle connection types.)
3. HSK-T is standardized in recent years. Based on HSK-A (1:10 taper) series, the type of Turning-Milling composite tool holder is improved to meet the requirements of turning. Based on the original HSK-A, it is developed to control the width tolerance of transmission keyway more strictly to improve the change of tool tip height during turning. HSK-A series tool holders can be used for milling.
3. Modular Turning Tool Handle Initiated by BIG
As a professional tool holder manufacturer, Dazhao precision machine has a rich product line. The three types of turning and milling composite turning tool holders mentioned above have been standardized and serialized, and modular design has been adopted in structure. While meeting various processing needs of users, the tool holder damage caused by tool tip collapse has been solved in turning process. To achieve high efficiency and low cost.
The specific types of modular turning tool handle tool head are mainly divided into two types, inclined type (45 degrees) and straight type (90 degrees).
1. Inclination type: Cutting force is mainly along the axis direction of tool shank, while the torsional moment of B bearing is smaller, which is more favorable to the spindle of machine tool. Because of 45 degree inclination, the suspension length of the tool rod can be reduced, and the interference between the spindle and the chuck of the machine tool can be easily avoided. It is suitable for turning the end face and the outer circle of the workpiece with shorter or larger diameter.
2. Straight type: It belongs to a more general type. It has abundant left and right hand blade holders to choose from, and can be used with ordinary turning tool bars and boring bars. It is suitable for most turning conditions. For the processing of longer workpiece, it is also helpful to avoid interference with the tailstock of machine tool.
