What should we pay attention to when using thermal expansion tool holder
August 20, 2019
(1) Use of cutters
Thermal expansion tool holder is most suitable for cemented carbide tools.
Please note that it is difficult to disassemble and assemble high-speed steel tools because the thermal expansion rate of the tool is similar to the material of the tool handle and the hot pressing time is longer.
(2) Tool selection and clamping method
Special Tool
The thermal expansion tool holder has a slender outer circle and good workpiece proximity, so it does not need a long tool.
It is suggested that the special tool for thermal expansion handle should be selected.
Tool Holding Length
Compared with the barrel clamp, even if the clamping length of the tool is shorter, it also has enough clamping rigidity.
If the length of the tool holder is too long, the vibration inside the tool holder will cause chatter, or the tool will be damaged inside the tool holder.
It is important to process according to the maximum loading length set by the thermal expansion handle.
3. How to prevent rust by maintaining?
The presence of "moisture" and "air (oxygen)" on iron articles can cause rust. The way to prevent rust is to remove "moisture" or to prevent "metal" from contacting "air (oxygen)".
[Maintenance Method]
After use, please use compressed air to dry "moisture". Especially in the depth of the hole, in the small hole of the side hole, please fully carry out air blowing. It is better to wash with cleaning oil or machine and then blow with air.
(2) Remove the tool after heating with a thermal expansion heater.
(3) Spray rust-proof oil or immerse it in rust-proof oil after cleaning.
Before hot pressing, the rust-proof oil on the handle must be removed. Spraying cleaning agent or solvent is easy to remove rust-proof oil.
Why rust?
The moisture in the air is attached to the handle of the knife, and the metal and water react to cause rust.
When heating the handle, the composition of the surface oil evaporates, leaving the handle in a rusty state.
Especially when the cooling fluid is passed through the main shaft to the handle or the clamp, the residual cooling fluid causes rust in the deep part of the handle.
The hole of F type side pass is very thin and the coolant is easy to accumulate, so special attention should be paid to it.
What harm does rust do?
After the metal surface rusts, it will gradually corrode to the interior as time goes on.
When the tool is clamped in the rusty state, it will be difficult to load the tool, the strength of the corroded part will be reduced, and the stress concentration will occur in the place when hot pressing matches, which will easily lead to cracking.
If it continues to be used, the clamping force decreases. As a result, the tool slips and the clamping accuracy decreases, which makes it impossible to use.
